What is it that makes two people SO perfect for one another?  So perfect that it’s obvious to anyone who sees them together?  Kristen and Ty are one of those couples who just. go. together.  It makes sense.  :)

Kris chose vintage tones for their wedding day – browns and pinks and corals.  She and her mom put together the beautiful centerpieces, complete with porcelain pitchers, mason jars, river stones on mirrors, silver-framed portraits, little bunches of roses, and long white birch branches hung with little tea lights.

Kristen dressed in the ballet room at the church.

Kristen and Ty saw one another before their ceremony, meeting privately in the sanctuary.  We snuck photographs through the doors.

We were given TONS of time for portraits!  It allowed us to do so many things without rushing or stressing.  (Thank you for being such a great planner, Kristen!)

Two of Ty’s students from the church helped carry this couch out into the field.  We couldn’t have done this without those guys!

Kristen’s kids were SO patient with us as we made our way through the family portrait list!  By the end they were getting pretty tired of smiling at the camera, but we were able to snag one last shot of the whole family together.  :)

Ty waited backstage for the ceremony to begin.

Kristen’s bridesmaids prayed around her.

Kristen’s friend and bridesmaid sang during the ceremony.  Her voice was SO stunning!  We found out later that she won a Dove Award last year!  Check out her music HERE.

Ty’s mom was emotional as soon as she sat down!

When Kristen and Ty chose us to photograph their wedding, we knew that we had a lot of friends and acquaintances in common.  But when I found out that my dear old friend Jamie would be dancing at their wedding, I was SO excited!  My mom was in birthing class with Jamie’s mom, and our birthdays are only 4 days apart.  We like to tell people that we’ve been friends since the womb.  :)

Kristen waiting at the top of the stairs…

A bagpiper played the wedding march.

You can’t see it, but Levi clung to Kristen and her dad as they walked down the aisle!  He was terrified of the bagpiper!

Here’s the little guy, finally up front with Ty and happy that the bagpiper’s song has ended!

Perimeter Church has a policy that the photographers must shoot from the back of the sanctuary, but we got special permission for one of us to stand in the wings backstage — we just couldn’t be visible to the audience at any time!  We’re SO SO SO glad the church made this concession.  Otherwise photographs like this one wouldn’t have been possible…

…or this one!

Ty reached out for a high-five as he and Kris walked back down the aisle!

The first dance…

Ty and his mom.

Bella and Levi had their own little cakes to cut!  (Notice the chocolate already on Bella’s face?)

Since Kristen and Ty had an afternoon ceremony, they had a dessert-only reception, with TONS of sweets!  Cakes, candies, cookies… you name it, and it was there!  Someone was even there spinning cotton candy!

The rings on some of the afore-mentioned candy.  ;)

The grand exit!  Kristen ran out barefoot, carrying the sexy red heels that Ty loves so much!

Kristen and Ty, we are SO happy to have met you both!  We wish you many blessings in your life together!

Mary + Steve + Mason: Year 1!

I was SO excited when Mary called and asked for another photo shoot of her adorable little family! Mason is 1 year old now, and WOW has he grown!

I love this squinty little face!

Gotta love graffiti!  Some icky tagging was painted over by this AWESOME tribute to the Beatles…

Mason…

Mary…

Steve…

THANK YOU, Mary, for trusting me again with your family photos!

Colin is new here.

Only ONE day after I created Jana and John’s pregnancy photos, their little baby boy Colin arrived!

He was a little early, so he doesn’t have his baby fat yet!  Jana said he looked like a little Benjamin Button.  :)

Look at those hands!

We tried a few different shots that would somehow incorporate the little guitar John bought for Colin, and this one was my favorite…

It really warms my heart to see Jana and John’s family happy and growing!  Getting to be a part of my clients’ lives through these significant changes is such an incredible honor.  :)

WPJA 2009 Q1

I entered a couple of images into the WPJA’s first quarter competition, and was SO happy to see this photograph of Sara and Itan receive mention in the Portraits category!

Here’s what the judges had to say:

“There were perhaps other more “creative” photos than this one that showed how much the photographer was thinking and working it but as far as a portrait that the subjects will cherish and love, it doesn’t get any better than this. It is a very simple and clean photo and the subjects look completely comfortable and their embrace is sincere. Wonderful light and a great job scouting this location make this a photo that is really worthy of the large check I am sure they had to make out for “wedding photography”! In this business, I’m sure it is great to win awards from your peers, but when it comes right down to it, your clients are the ones who really matter and here you have done them a great service. Excellent work!”

Hooray!

Sara and Itan, we’ll be sending you a print of this photograph, so keep a lookout for a package in the mail!

Engaged! Maisha + Torry

Maisha and Torry are engaged!  We’re SO excited to photograph Maisha and Torry’s Thanksgiving-ish wedding with just the smallest group of family members.  It’s going to be incredibly intimate and special, and we’re honored to be part!  These two are incredibly giving people with huge hearts for others AND for one another.  We really can’t say enough about how awesome they are… so we’ll just let you enjoy the photos.  :)

No WONDER Torry fell for her, right?

And, um, yeah.  Lucky lady.

We wondered over to Grant Park for most of these shots. It’s such a great space.

Maisha and Torry, we hope you guys enjoyed the rest of your mini-vacation together!  We’ll be seeing you SOON!

Married! Ollie + Brandon

Ollie and Brandon were married at Primrose Cottage in Roswell, Georgia. Getting to know these two has been one of the highlights of our year! We just wish they didn’t live all the way out in Seattle so we could hang out again. :(

Tijen with Creme Events brought all of the details together:

1, 3, 5, 10, and 12: Flowers and feathers by Ginger Lily Events
2, 7, and 8: Cupcakes by SugarMama Cupcakery
4: The rings, crafted by Brandon’s grandfather.
6: The ketubah — SO beautiful!
9: Guests signed a cookbook as then arrived for the ceremony.
11:  In anticipation of a hot May day, Ollie and Brandon’s programs were printed paper fans. (Genius!)

Ollie checks herself out in a mirror.  The Moore Agency gave Ollie her adorable 20′s-inspired updo and makeup!

Brandon and his groomsmen analyze the tie situation…

I’ve already said this, but Brandon’s grandfather MADE these rings.  HOW FLIPPIN’ COOL IS THAT?!?!?!

Ollie straps on her shoes…

Love this shot of Brandon cracking up…

Ollie and Brandon opted to see one another before their ceremony.  YAY!

It started raining just as we got to the group portraits, so we had to squeeze into the house!  They still look pretty hot, huh?

This glass turtle paperweight was a gift from Brandon’s mom, and weighed down the ketubah for signing.

Ollie’s bridesmaid got emotional as the Rabbi read the ketubah.  Too sweet…

Brandon lowers Ollie’s veil…

About 20 minutes before the ceremony began, Ollie decided her sparkly, strappy heels were just too uncomfortable and difficult to walk in.  So she put her tennis shoes back on.  Happy girl!  :)  This is what we love about Ollie…

The rain let up just before the ceremony was supposed to begin outside.  Rabbi Greene seemed to be having a quick word with God about the weather.

Ollie and her mom…

Two bridesmaids and two groomsmen held the chuppah over the bride and groom…

About halfway through the marriage ceremony, it started raining again!  Completely unfazed by the whole thing, Ollie and Brandon just ushered everyone indoors to finish.

They’re married!

You can’t shoot at Primrose without noticing the huge red clawfoot bathtub in the bride’s room.  Seriously?  How cool is this that thing?

The first dance…

Ollie and her dad…

Brandon and his mom…

HAHAHA!  The horah is the BEST!

Livin’ Large kept the party going…

Wrapping up the last dance of the night…

As their friends and family gathered outside to see them off, we snagged a couple minutes to take a few more portraits…

CONGRATULATIONS, Brandon and Ollie!  You MUST look us up next time you’re in Atlanta.  I’m sure there will be some new TV shows and movies we’ll need to geek out about.  ;)
